Top 10 Best Presentations Worldwide

The proof of the pudding is in the eating ... What's Your Style?

Speech rhythm

Dr. Martin Luther King - I Have a Dream [1963]. A monumetal speech. Look upon 1. the preparation that Dr. King used and 2. the meaning of speech rhythm.

Sir Winston Churchill Speech - We shall fight them .... Look especially at minute 8 - 10.

Surprise and getting people to laugh

Steve Jobs introduces Mac [1984]. This presentation rocked the house. Tell jokes if you're good at telling jokes. If you aren't good, best to leave the jokes behind. There's nothing worse than a punch line that has no punch.

Gentle humour is good in place of jokes. Self-deprecation is good, but try not to lay it on too thick.

To speak plainly, with humour and energy

Dick Hardt - Identity 2.0 [2005]. Hundreds of slides in 20-minutes.

Guy Kawasaki - Art of the Start [2006]. The Art of Speech Making. Increasing flair and finesse.

Paints a picture with stories - without slides

Malcolm Gladwell - Blink presentation [2005]. Brilliant. Gladwell makes points by telling stories. Stories make you a real person not just a deliverer of information.

Use personal experiences to bring your material to life. No matter how dry your material is, you can always find a way to humanise it.

Know the story, live it, and tell it

Tom Peters - A Ham Sandwich [1990]. Being Entertaining.

Persuade

Seth Godin - Marketing at Google [2006]. Godin uses slides to persuade his audience that he’s right.

Rupert Everett - I Say a Little Prayer for You [1997]. Great. Isn’t exactly a “presentation." But isn’t a lot of what we do a “presentation" designed to persuade people to believe our story?

Take a breath

Prem Rawat-Maharaji "Better than success or failure" Ask rhetorical questions and change the volume of your voice. Maintain eye contact for a second or two with as many people as possible and be challenging.

Do's en dont's

Don McMillan (MySpace) shows "Life after death by Powerpoint" a wrong way of presentation. Check also  "Users guide to Life" - Presentationzen or Powerpoint presentatie video's by Don McMillan

Leerprocessen.blogspot.com. Do's en dont's (Dutch)
